Pattern Description: Misses Separates-- knit tops, skirts, and pants
Pattern Sizing: S-XL, I made the top in size S for daughter
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Didn't follow instructions. Pattern calls for zipper in back of blouse. I did not use zipper as the neck opening was large/stretchy enough to pull over daughter's head without zipper.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Did not like the zipper in the back. I am not crazy about sewing a v-necks but the top turned out great any my daughter loves it. I also like that we now have tops made from the same fabric-- we can match without being too matchy. I used New Look 6735 for my top.
Fabric Used: Ponteroma knit. I love this fabric. I was very surprised to see that my 16 yr old daughter liked it as well. I hope she feels the same way after wearing it to school.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: did not use zipper
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I would sew again if my daughter needed another v-neck t-shirt. Next time I will look for tips and techniques for sewing a v-neck. I don't really like using a facing but could not find tutorial for applying trim to neckline (using a 1 inch strip of fabric folded in half lengthwise with wrong sides together, sewn to neck edge using 3/8 inch seam allowance and pressing. I've applied this type of neckline to a scoop neck but could not find anything to show how to deal with the point of the v without sewing a "dart" at the point-- I hope this description makes sense).
Conclusion: Quick top to make. I do love knits. I really want that coverstitch machine to make hemming easier and faster. Maybe if I'm lucky it will be a birthday/Mother's Day present.
Very nice!
