Quesie, your jumpsuit does look elegant, the fabric sounds tdf, I love chocolate color(wonder why though? LOL!!!). You could have made the loop easier by using buttonhole twist or by making it from the velvet by simply cutting a strip crosswise and pulling it 'till it was like a thin hairy worm, then just put few handstitces to the raw edge and voila, there's your loop.

I have been thinking about this one. I also have momentary jumpsuit cravings when I remember how chic my Mom was in the seventies and how much she enjoyed fashion back then. The eighties and even much of the nineties were very unkind to the two of us compared with those easy seventies styles. Thanks for the review!

I really like your jumpsuit in the velvet. Looks sporty, yet elegant. Another idea for the thread loop is to use your serger, install a decorative thread like Decorator 6 in the upper looper, and sew a rolled hem thread chain the desired lenth (and then some to tack in the seam allowance). I used this method on some holiday dresses for my daughters. The rolled hem chain with the decorator thread was thick enough to be easy to work with and would hold up on an outfit like this. Plain, old thread for a loop is flimsy and hard to work with, IMO.

Believe it or not, I still have in my closet a silver jumpsuit with a cowl neck I wore to a high school prom in 1982. Nice work on your jumpsuit and fantastic fabric choice.

Very cute pants suit! This brings back memories of third grade. I also remember not liking to have to strip down to almost the buff to use the rest room.............

Thank you for all your buttonhole ideas... what is buttonhole twist? A kind of thread? I like the idea of the "worm of velvet," and also the serger idea.

Buttonhole twist is a thicker than averige thread for sewing buttonholes by hand.
