|Pattern Description: |
Every woman looks amazing in a classic trench coat! This is a feminine take on the traditional military trench, with rounded edges for a softer look.
The Robson Coat features everything you'd hope for on a trench coat, including front and back storm flaps, epaulettes, topstitching, tie belt and sleeve tabs. It's unlined to make it easier to sew, as well as easier to press the finished coat. Front pockets are covered with welts and lie flat against the body. All of the inner seams are bound with bias tape for a clean finish.
A beautiful, classic coat you'll wear and love for years!
Sizing is proportioned for a pear-shaped figure: smaller bust and waist, larger hips.
Sizes: 0-16 (all sizes are included in one pattern!)
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions for Sewaholic patterns are basic but very clear, I never even scratched my head over something!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the style of a classic tranchcoat and all the small details included in this pattern.
A dark blue cotton with a bit of polyester in it, and a cotton silk for the lining.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made a straight size 10 and didn't alter anything, but opted to draft a lining instead of binding the seams. I also made functional buttonholes in all of the flaps and epaulettes. If I make it again I'd make the pockets a bit larger and shorten the sleeves.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I definitely want to make another Robson coat, maybe this time in a fancier fabric or a brighter colour! I really needed a basic coat suitable for spring or autumn weather, and this fits the bill perfectly.
Lovely pattern! All the bits and pieces seem overwhelming at first but if you take it slow and go one piece at a time it's not as daunting anymore.
