|Pattern Description: |
Full skirted dress with cut-out bustline and cap sleeves
I used the bodice of this model and replaced the gathered skirt with the skirt of model 107, burdastyle magazine 11/2007. I have made this compination before and I liked it: I think that the gathers of the 116-10-2010 add volume to my already wide waist. With the pleats I can have a wide skirt without the puffy look. And of course pleats are more easy to make than gathers;)
Pattern Sizing:34-42, I made 36 and it was ok with no alteration.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? The bodice yes, the skirt of course no!
Were the instructions easy to follow? I didn' t read them carefully and I didn't follow them cause I didn't line the bodice.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
It's a very easy to sew pattern (if you don't line the dress) with a wow!! result. It's very flattering for a small bust and allthough it looks sexy you have no fear that your bra will be shown.
nobody sees my bra!!
The last is very scarce for burdastyle low necklines ... to tell the truth this must be the only time I didn't correct a burda neckline at all! What I didn't like about this pattern is that the waist is a little high. I knew that from my previous dress and I added 2 cm to the bottom of all bodice pieces, so the final dress sits exactly at my natural waist.
Fabric Used: stretch gabardine
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
1. As I mentioned before I legthen the bodice pieces
2. I skipped the back seam back view
3. I created at the sleeves a cut out design similar to the bustline, by cutting the sleeve pattern at the middle. This adds room for the arms to move, I mention this because the sleeves are tight.
cut out sleeve
Would you sew it again? I have already two similar dresses and the design is not very usuall, so I shouldn' t make it again but I like it so much .... so of course I will sew it again, but not with the same cut out at the front, I'll try to find a way to achieve a different look.
Would you recommend it to others? Yes!!!! Especially for small busts and wide waists is very flattering.
Conclusion: One of my favorite patterns!
I have more photos here!!
