The fabric you used is beautiful. In the pictures the dress does not look like a fail. It looks beautiful. I'm sad that your waistline seam turned out wonky, I have read in other reviews that it turned out frumpy needing a belt to cover it. I have this pattern too and even though you didn't like the way it turned out, it is still pretty enough that I am encouraged to make it! Thanks for the review. I will be sure spend more time muslin-making after reading this.

I feel your pain. The back of your dress did look nice.

@autumn, i completely agree about the muslin-making! in fact, i did make a muslin of this pattern because i had been so confused about the way the sleeves fit. i think my error in the toile stage was making the muslin out of the lining pieces - just to check fit and proportions - because they have different shaping mechanisms than the shell pieces. what i mean by that is that the lining uses simple darts to achieve shape while the shell uses a lot of pleating. i think if i had seen the pleating i would have made different choices. but thanks for your kind words. i admit in photographs it does look wearable, but i feel so hobby holly in it that i do not think i would be comfortable or proud of wearing it.
