|Edit: After a few months, the honeymoon period is over and I don't actually wear it. Even after sizing down so much it is too big in the bust, shoulders, and sleeves, and I think it makes me look a little frumpy. If I try it again, I will size down even more and try to estimate inside the lines of the smallest size.|
The rest is my original review.
Way too big. I measured at a 10 in the bust and a 12 everywhere else. From these reviews, I saw that it ran big, so I cut out an 8 but still had to take a couple of inches off. I probably ended up sewing the equivalent of a 6.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
More or less.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, especially for a beginner (only my second pattern).
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked the neck/collar design and the shoulders, but I didn't like how it flared out at the waist (I ended up cutting this off entirely and sewing the side seams straight down from the bust).
Also, the sleeves weren't right for me, but I do have short arms. They were too wide at the cuff and too long; they looked like slightly short full sleeves instead of 3/4.
A fairly ugly polyester corduroy in dark purple. It was cheap and I like the colour, but it doesn't feel very nice.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Sized down 2-3 sizes and cut a straight instead of flared waist. Also shortened and narrowed the sleeves.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I might try it again in a better fabric and with the modifications that seem to work for me.
This was only my second pattern and first time doing something semi-fitted, so take this review with a grain of salt. However, after re-sewing several seams, I think I've discovered how to make it work for me, and ultimately I like how it looks (though I don't wear it often due to a terrible fabric choice).
