|Pattern Description: This is a sleeveless top with shoulder tucks and waist tucks, for a peplum-like effect. Buttons up front. Has a back facing, folded over front band and bias-trimmed arm holes. |
Pattern Sizing: Single size only. I used a 16 based on my bust measurement, which should have given me 2 inches of ease. (I would like 1-2 more).
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, although my shoulders are narrower at arms. My pattern pic shows 2 tucks at back (and there is only one on pattern)--the updated web pic shows only one too, so this must have been corrected later.
Were the instructions easy to follow? StyeArcs's instructions are minimal. The drawings are good, though, if you're confused.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? This is a freebie pattern I got with another order. I am working on my pattern stash and had some cheap fabric. I really like the look of the finished garment, more flattering than I would have thought and has a sort-of vintage look with the cut. It is not a super simple top to make--with all the tucks and the buttons/buttonholes. I found it a bit tighter than expected (this could be my issue with sloppiness with measuring the tucks). I wished I had added my usual 2 inches in length for a longer torso. This is a good pattern for nice woven fabrics, which I'm always looking for. It features the buttons well too.
Fabric Used: A periwinkle and offwhite 100% cotton lawn from FashionFabricsClub. Cost about $4. Love this fabric and the color. Used some old shell buttons that accent it nicely.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:No, did it straight up. In the future I'll add 1 inch to the fronts and 2 inches in length.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I actually think I will sew it again--was just crossing this off my stash, but I like the way it fits.
Conclusion: A button-front, sleeveless top with tucks at waist and shoulders. Nice pattern for wovens.
