This is a 50's skirt and I've followed the drafting instructions by Mercury - handmade Pattern Sizing:
I drafted this skirt to fit me so there's no pattern sizing. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes it did but Mercury - handmade's has many more versions on her blog. Were the drafting instructions easy to follow?
Yes they were. I just had enough confidence to draft this using her instructions at home. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
This is a classic style with a neat fit. Fabric Used:
I've used a green Cue remnant. I think it's a rayon blend and I've lined it with SunSilky fabric. I've made a green and a grey version for work.
The grey version was also a remnant piece. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Go to Mercury handmade for her instructions.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I've enjoyed the fact this is now one of my go-to work skirts. I know this pattern can be used for casual and formal occassions too. Conclusion:
If you want to increase your sewing skills with a hint of pattern drafting, try this alteration of an existing skirt pattern and amaze yourself.
