Pattern Description: I followed the directions in the book "Pattern-making for Underwear Design" of Kristina Shin
Pattern Sizing: For me plus-sized. Shin gives directions to draw a 34B bra, but I managed to find a way to draw it in my own sizes
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?yes exept deliberately-made changes
Were the instructions easy to follow?no
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked that it was a supportive bra without wires.
Shin is not clear about fabrics and what you have to do when you have made your choice yourself.
Fabric Used:several: duoplex (all the black) , stretch-lace (the black and white) and firm lycra (behind the black and white lace), padding in the straps
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:The straps were meant to be above the apex. I am aware that this gives the maximum support. ,but I will never use it for heavy duty sporting. I chose to put the straps on the shoulderjoint. That causes less problems with shoulder- and neck pain. I did not want the bra-band under the cups beeing so wide so did not draw it in.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?yes and yes but they must be prepared for difficulties.
Conclusion: I'll certainly go on with this style.
I choose now to have a band of duoplex all around the upper side of the bra and in the rest of the bra-band stretch.I thaught that this would be fine in an incapsulated style of sportsbra. So I drafted the band with a reduction, but forgot that there should not be a reduction in the part of the band that was made of duoplex. I have saved my bra, but next time I will make an adapted draft . i think that the idea of making most part of the cups and de upper-part of the band out of a non-stretch material as such is a good startingpoint.Perhaps I will draw my style lines a bit less rounded next time. That will make sewing a bit less complicated.
I was glad to find this review by Bloom on the internet. That was very helpful.
