|Pattern Description: Tank swimsuit with scoop neck and back, low cut legs and midriff band cut on cross grain. Bow detail.|
Pattern Sizing: 92-146. Myra is wearing a 104.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, other than the minor changes I made.
Were the instructions easy to follow? They were typical for Ottobre - clear, but no illustrations. I couldn't find any specific lengths for elastic in the arm, leg and neck openings, so I used this chart to determine how much to use, and it worked just fine.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love how sweet it is - cute without being revealing or inappropriate for her age. I really like the midriff band, which I think is a nice detail in an otherwise simple suit. I was a little annoyed at the lack of lengths for elastic, but that was easy enough to remedy.
Fabric Used: Nylon/lycra swimwear fabric
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: The only real changes I made were to the style. Rather than using the print for the bottom half of the suit, mine has the print on the bodice and midriff band. I also omitted the bow. I otherwise sewed it without alteration, as Myra's measurements are a very close match to the 104 size. I'm happy with the fit, as it is comfortable and snug enough, but still has a bit of room for growth, so she'll be able to wear it for more than a week.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I really like this pattern, and it is basic enough that it would be easy to mix up and use for many suits. I'm sure I'll use it again, probably more than once! I do recommend it.
Conclusion: This is a nice basic, easy to sew suit that still manages to be cute and fun to wear. The pattern doesn't include specific measurements for the elastic lengths, but the chart I linked above should give you enough info to go on.
