|Pattern Description: This is a DKNY design for a knit, pullover dress. It has a cowl neck and pleating detail. |
Pattern Sizing: This comes in sizes 6-22.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions are very easy. I made this in less than 2 hours.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I'm in my second trimester and have been using patterns that aren't necessarily for maternity use but will still accommodate the growing belly. I thought this dress would work well and it does. I also like the design lines including the pleating, cowl neck and sleeveless style.
Fabric Used: I used an ITY jersey that I purchased online several years ago.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I didn't make any changes to make this a maternity dress. In fact, I sewed 2 sizes smaller than the pattern recommends based off of my pre-pregnancy measurements. I did lengthen the hem a few inches. The patterns calls for a 4 inch hem, but I did a standard 1 1/2 inch hem.
I finished the arms with seam binding rather than a narrow hem. I also folded the cowl collar in half with wrong sides together and sewed it all into the neckline at once. The instructions would have you do some hand sewing in this step but I figured "why bother"?
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I don't know if I will sew this again but I do recommend it.
Conclusion: This was a very easy dress to make. It is comfortable to wear (pregnant or not) and looks very stylish. I love the mod look that my fabric print gives it.
