The dress has a button-front sleeveless bodice with darts. The skirt is gathered. The front button placket extends into the skirt.
The apron is a simple rectangle with with waist band and ties.
98-122. I made a size 116.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
So-so. It's a simple dress except the placket area; I didn't find the directions for attaching the skirt and bodice while incorporating the placket to be clear. I misunderstood the directions when lining up the bodice and skirt pieces to make the continuing placket. I would have been better off making up a workable solution on my own.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the cute, gathered skirt with apron. My daughter absolutely loved the dress.
The placement of the placket (center front) was poor because it gapes horribly in the skirt portion. After all, there is no closure there; the buttons are in the bodice only. Logic tells you that any movement at the waist would cause an opening to gape.
I added a hook and eye AND two snaps, but they kept coming undone. Luckily the apron does cover all that.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Nothing besides the addition of closures at the bottom of the placket.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
If I sewed it again, I'd either extend my buttons all the way down into the skirt portion of the placket, or I'd end the placket at the waist. However, there is not a lot of waist ease, so it would be tight to squeeze on if I did that.
