Misses’ & Miss petite dress in two lengths with pleated skirt and loose fitting cape jacket.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
This pattern looked very much like the photo. It has a very full skirt and pretty fitted top with pleated sleeves.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes the instructions were very easy to follow. There were no difficult sections to this dress.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the top of this dress. The skirt was a bit too full for me and had quite a lot of pleats in it. I ended up omitting the side panel in the skirt and just used a larger front piece. I still added the pleats but just not as many as the dress originally had. The sleeves were one of my favourite things about this dress and I ended up reusing them for another Vogue dress.
Cotton sateen for the really vibrant patterned dresses and then a polyester material for the black and pink dress. Both worked really well and I think the polyester material would have been better with the original design with the full skirt and lots of pleats.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
As mentioned above I changed the skirts in each one slightly. Mostly to match the material I used but I just didn't want it to be too big/full.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I have already sewn three of these dresses as shown on my blog. So I will probably make a few more outfits before coming back to this dress. However I do recommend this dress to others. Its a great starting pattern and easy to make and change to suit your body type.
