Close fitting three quarter sleeve jacket with scalloped pattern edges.
Marfy Size 40-48. I bought a size 40.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Marfy don't give you instructions, just letters on the pattern pieces, which fit together.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
This is an outfit for my son's wedding, so I was looking for something special and the scallop edge was just what I was looking for.
Liberty print silk crepe de chine over laying silk satin, lined with habotai silk and interlined with silk organza. The scallop edge was made by cutting out scallop shapes along the print fabric. laying it over the satin and organza and sewing over the edges with a small zigzag stitch.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I did a 1/2" swayback alteration and a 1/2" pivot FBA, and 1/2" extra to the side seams. This is a very close fitting jacket. It closes with press fasteners which I covered with silk in case I undid it in public( I didn't).
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I don't think I will sew this again, it was for a one off occasion. I would recommend it to confident (slim through the middle) sewers. I don't think it would suit the rounder figure, it would take a lot of alteration.
A lovely special occasion jacket. See My blog post
for a lot more detail.
