Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Pretty much except for my mistakes. I'll say right now I screwed some things up royally. I haven't yet done the armhole facings. At least I used cheap fabric and just made it for the kitsch factor.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The directions are pretty easy to follow, but there are certain things I don't like/didn't do in the same order. I hate when patterns have you sew the front and back together at sides and shoulders and THEN do the zipper. Am I the only one who thinks that's weird? I think it's easier to put the zip in first.
I also had a hard time with the V shaped facings. I found it hard to sew, and press to the other side. I don't know what to do differently, although because I did the sleeveless version I might draft up the kind of facings that you then just pull the back through the facings. It makes it look so much nicer I think. I also might just change the angle of the neckline to curved until I can learn to do it correctly.
Fabric Used: Old sheets bought at a thrift store for $2.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I usually add length, I thought the dress was long enough but now I'm thinking the proportion might look weird when I hem it. From now on, I'll stick to my usual height alteration. I'm 5'11.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Conclusion:
Despite all my problems, I really love the silhouette and want to try it again.
