|Pattern Description: What? None given. Misses knit dress- Mock wrap front with POCKETS! Waistline casing for added wearing ease.|
Collar and sleeve variations.
Pattern Sizing: Misses 10-22
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, but longer.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. I think even a beginner would have no trouble. Though I deviated and set the sleeves in flat, because well, why wouldn't you?
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I found no faults that were not related to styling.
Fabric Used: I think I bought this polyester knit about 7 years ago at Wal-Mart. And I'm glad I waited to use it. It is not a double knit, though it is fairly stable and of a medium weight. In fact, I did not serge this garment. It is only stitched and using a jersey needle. I just barely put any drag on the feed dogs. I did double stitch the side skirt seam, sleeves and shoulders. You could not do anything else to the waist as the seam allowance becomes the casing.
Yes, that's right- pockets!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: My standard bodice alteration of lengthening 3/8 in and widening hips to a 16 from a 12 at the waist.
For the front opening I measured from the shoulder to bodice bottom and reduced that number 5% (so I removed 1in from its 19 in measurement for the facing only- it is then stretched when applied.) This was to keep the facing taut. But because there is positive ease in the back, it pulls in a little:
I added 3 1/4in to the hem length. Usually I would add 1.5 but other reviewers noted how short the dress was.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Adjust me After I tweak this, I think this could be a dress I would repeat several times.
Now tell me, did you notice the boob flower? I noticed it when I put it on the mannekin, but not on myself especially. Its such an allover floral that I don't think it stands out. Did I mention this dress has pockets? Super!
Conclusion: Yes, yes, a hundred times yes. I can't remember the last time I was this pleased with so little work.
