|Pattern Description: |
A sweet and easy wrap dress with no closures to sew. The dress wraps in back and has cap sleeves. The wide ties encircle the waist for a comfortable dress with a fitted look. Version 1 has a rounded neckline, while Version 2 has a shaped sweetheart neckline and waist ties in a contrasting fabric.
I made version 1.
0-18 all sizes included in 1 envelope
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
They were very easy, although I veered off from them since I decided to line/underline the bodice instead of doing facings. I really liked that some optional suggestions were included- like to attach the bodice to the skirt with a french seam. I never would have thought of that, and it saved so much time and hand stitching!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked how easy it was to put together. I liked the design with the circle skirt and wrap back. I've never worn a wrap back dress before, but I think it's very pretty, and it feels more modest than a front wrap. I also really liked the shape of the sleeves.
The only thing I didn't like about the pattern was so many sizes printed together made it a bit difficult to find my line, and some of the size markings on the pattern were very light and hard to see if they were even there (maybe I got an "off" printing).
Pink toile made of cotton lawn, underlined with a creme colored Bemberg Rayon.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I did a sloped shoulder adjustment, a first for me, and described how I figured that out on my blog. Being that I had never done one before, it was a little tricky to figure out with the shape of the sleeve, and marking a more typical shoulder/armscye line on my pattern as a reference point really helped.
I also curved the darts and lowered the front dart point just a little.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
yes and yes! It was easy, and turned out very nice!
This pattern is no big deal to put together, and I think it turns out looking like more effort than it took! It's a simple, but elegant design that I enjoyed making, and think I will get a lot of wear out of. More pictures and details on my blog.
