Pattern Sizing: 10-12-14-16-18. I made the smallest size 10 going by the finished garment measurements and I think it fits well. If I went by the size chart according to my body measurements, that would have put me in a 12 or 14, and this would have been too big for me.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, it does.
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions were easy, however, I did see a BIG mistake on the pattern tissue piece #7 for the skirt front. The skirt is to be cut on the fold of the fabric, yet the pattern has a notch to be cut also on the fold. See here: Notch placement on the fold. If one were to snip this notch, a hole would result right on the front and center of the skirt. I am glad that I new better than to snip this notch out as there is no reason for it and I hope that Simplicity notices this and corrects this misprint.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the simple and easy design of this dress, as it is perfect for a casual or dressier occasion depending on the fabric choice.
Fabric Used: Silk charmeuse (I used the "wrong", less shiny side) for the dress, china silk for the slip lining.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I did not make the pockets or the sash, I made the side and shoulder seams French seams to prevent fraying, I made my own bias binding for the armholes, and I added a built-in slip lining to the skirt as the fabric is a little sheer.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I love this little dress! I hope to make it up in another color or print. I highly recommend it.
Conclusion: I love this pattern and have had the fabric for it in my stash for over a year. I am glad I made it as it is perfect to pull on for a warm summer day worn with flat sandals or a night out with some cute heels.
