|Pattern Description: |
Babies romper, dress, top, pants, panties and hat.
XXS to L (preemie to 18 months).
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, it did!
Were the instructions easy to follow?
They were very easy and clear.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
This was so easy! One patternpiece for the top and/or dress B. You simply sew the sides, trim the underarms with bias tape, fold a casing down on the top and hem. It calls for elastic to be used to gather the front and back neckline--you stitch 10 inches of decorative ribbon/bias tape to each end of the elastic before you thread it through the casing, and then stitch the sides of the casing closed to keep the elastic hidden.
I didn't use this pattern to make the diaper cover (I have a favorite pattern I knew would fit), so I can't review the panties pattern.
I used quilting cottons.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I shortened the piece of elastic that goes in the neckline--I thought the pattern elastic guide made the top way too wide. I made the small size for my granddaughter, and when I cut the elastic to pattern size it looked like it would fall off her shoulders--so I cut an inch off of the elastic and the fit was perfect. It still has stretch for comfort, but the ties came much closer to her neck with the shortened elastic. I also added a matching ribbon border around the hem.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I have already cut out another version of this pattern! It took me about 45 minutes from start to finish to make the top!
It was a fun and easy project! I'm a new grandma of a beautiful little girl and am having a great time sewing outfits for her. Just got up my nerve to post this pattern review--I have been lurking for a few years and I have read so many member reviews and learned from so many of them. I thought it was time to share, as well.
