Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
No, I made modifications. The pattern was used along with Simplicity 1610 to create a custom sash.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, for the sash they were.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
It's a very interesting pattern with lots of options but right now I just needed a sash and this pattern helped me understand how I needed to proceed.
silk taffeta of a relatively narrow width (42")
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I needed a longer sash so I lengthened the tie ends. I also made a cumberband for the front of the sash and I used Simplicity 1610 for that. Again, I made the cumberband wider than designed. I knew I wanted it to be completed at a width of 8 inches and to extend side to side and then the sash ties would be attached to it and wrap around the body and meet off center where the sash would be tied into a large bow. The tie ends were meant to extend below the hemline of the dress.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes and yes. I would also like to try some of the other patterns included in the envelope.
The sash in the photo is somewhat droopy. I realized to get the look I was after I would need to use small safety pins. Once the sash was pressed and repositioned it looked quite nice. Right now I have only this older photo available for the review.
