Pattern Description: A free pattern for a quick and easy tank top for girls. This is a great project for practicing several techniques on your serger and sewing machine a) Lettuce Edging (serger) b) Shirring (sewing machine).
Pattern Sizing:Pattern is sized from 2T - 10. It's bascially guidelines for cutting 2 different sizes of rectangles. Two for front and back and two for straps.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions are very easy to follow. However, if you're new to shirring or lettuce edging, I highly recommend practicing on scraps before you dive in.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love that it's a free pattern and uses up scraps to make something wearable which is super cute.
Fabric Used: Incidentally I had a Patty Young interlock from before so I decided to use it for this project given that this is her project I used a contrasting color woolly nylon in the upper looper and that made all the difference!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I did not make any changes, but shame on me for not checking before. The tank is too short! I will layer it and she'll probably get a few uses out of it. But next time I will add 3".
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I will most certainly sew it again. Next time it will be in a solid color. Maybe white with a variegated woolly nylon in the looper!
Conclusion: It's quick, its cute and its FREE! What's not to love?
