|Pattern Description: |
Lined dress has forward shoulder seams, bias front, fitted bodice with shoulder pleats, raised waist, semi-fitted skirt, right side pleats, bias back pleated midriff, invisible back zipper, and slit.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, I also use "Miss Marnie's" suggestions for the back pleated section at the waist. It was extremely helpful since I would probably have ripped out that section many times. Instead, it came out perfectly the first time! Note I ended up tacking each pleats down where it's covered by the one that overlaps - the fabric is soft enough that I was afraid that the pleats wouldn't stay in place (Thank you Miss M!):
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the way the drape neck lies, and also the gathering in the front. It hides a lot!
viscose nylon from Emmaonesock, lined with a nude mesh.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I cut it according to my measurements but ended up taking it in quite a bit from the waist down since it was too big and I wanted it to be more form fitting. I also decided to make it sleeveless but when sewn, the armholes were much too large. I guess my arms are thinner than I thought. So I ended up taking the dress up at the shoulders and taking it in at the side seams until it fit. Of course, since the dress was intended to have sleeves, the shoulder was too wide so I used some elastic to shir the shoulders. I think it ended up looking pretty nice.
I also changed the slit in the back to be one that overlaps and also didn't bother with the back zipper. The fabric is stretchy enough that it goes over my head easily and I was afraid that the fabric would pucker or that the zipper would be too stiff inside the seam and cause the back to lie poorly.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes and yes
I love this dress!
