|This is a great bag, generously offered free at the Sewmamasew.com website. The tutorial was very clear and useful. I used cotton decorator fabric from my stash that my mother gave to me decades ago. I lined it with utility twill. It has a double layer of Insul-Bright between the exterior fabric and the lining. It is quilted to the lining. The resulting thickness was a bit challenging, but with a 100/16 heavy duty machine needle I was ok. I basted the zipper in by hand, both exterior and lining-quilt. Then, with the zipper foot, I sewed it in with good success. When making the side seams, I had to sew across the bottom of the zipper to make it fit, but even then, my needle didn't break. This was my first time with Insul-Bright and I'm happy to have discovered it. |
This is a really generous-sized tote, 28"x21"x8" I put a piece of double corrugated cardboard in the bottom for more structure, totally removable. I'm expecting to get lots of use from this delightful bag.
