Girl's sundress with lined bodice/ruffle variations, back zipper and narrow hem.
Size 3-14. I made a size 4.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Since I used this pattern for a base, I did not follow the directions, but I did read through them several times to see how the pattern might work for what I wanted it for. I found the skirt part of the dress for view A/D very confusing.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked this pattern because it gave me a good basic sundress in which I could adapt to make a Lalaloopsy dress.
Make sure you measure your child before starting. I made this for my daughter's friend and they are about the same size. My daughter measured for a 3 in her chest area and I made a 4 (to have room to grow) and I wish I hadn't done that. The ties I added are useful for pulling in the extra fabric and make it fitter better.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
For the skirt I cut three layers with the top layer the length of the size 3 dress and the middle layer the size 6 length and the longest layer about 2 inches longer than that. I attached the top (pink) skirt part to the bodice first and then added the zipper. I then added the other two layers and treated them like a skirt lining.
The three layers of cotton skirts made this dress heavy, so I added interfacing to the straps.
I gathered the top skirt in four places and added bows. I added large rick rack to the bottom of the first layer of the skirt.
I added a waistband and made ties. Here's a picture of the back.
I moved the strap over towards the center of the bodice in the front and the back by about an inch. I also shortened the straps quite a bit.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes! It was easy (even with all the adaptations) and turned out really well.
My daughter's friend wanted a Lalaloopsy dress that her mother found on Pinterest. All we had was a picture to go by and found that this pattern worked very well for a base to start from. The dress is easy to sew up and has a lot of design options to make it different each time. Highly recommend!
