Pattern Description: Easy to wear wardrobe builder, a great basic with a "twist"! Suitable for any season, make it with a short or long sleeve.
This is the free pattern for June.
Pattern Sizing:4-30. I made a size 8.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? I thought it looked better! It is actually more fitted than the pattern illustration indicates, and the front hem curves up more.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. The twist front is the hardest part, but Style Arc includes a illustration as well as written instructions for how to construct it.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Likes: I was surprised at how the style worked on me. I think the shaped hem in the front was the key for having it work with my pear shaped body, as was the fitted shape.
Fabric Used: A cheap $1.99 rayon/lycra jersey from Fabric Mart. Didn't want to invest too much into this top before I knew whether the style would suit me! Those very thin rayon jerseys that are almost unsuitable for normal tops would work perfectly with this, as would a thin ITY or silk jersey. The key is to use something thin with lots and lots of drape!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:I made my usual Style Arc fitting alterations. The one design change I made was adding a CB seam for back shaping, something I find myself doing with almost all knit patterns now.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I think I will sew this again. It is trendy and easy to construct. I would recommend it to others for the ease of construction and up-to-the-moment styling.
