I cut size 4.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, pretty much.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, very easy. I made this dress for two days.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the shelf bust design. Though I first thought this design would work better for a large bust, I chose this pattern because of that.
The only one thing I didn't like is a strap. It was hard to make the underbust strap stay in place. I just tacked it at the corners, but the strap pulled up the bodice a little bit.
Cotton poplin, red satin for strap. The concept of the party I was participated in was "Wear Your Art", so I printed my own image on the cotton poplin thorugh spoonflower.com
(The girl with a parrot is what I drew.)
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I am a petite size , so I shortened 5/8" at torso and cut 4" from the skirt length. Sadly I have a very small bust, so I had to modify the shelf bust part A LOT. The cups were too big for me, so I cut almost 1" from the bottom of the cups . Also, I widened the opening for the bust cups, because two cups were overlapped so closely and it made my small bust look even smaller.
TanitIsis's blog was really helpful for the alteration.
My alteration was almost same as her. I think her alteration for the shelf bust cups- cutting bottom parts, widening distance between two cups- works very well for small chested girls.
At the end, I added 2" wide horsehair braid to the hem.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, it's a very nice and unique design. I think this pattern is perfect for any special occasion.
This is my first review- I regret I didn't take pictures of the process, since I didn't think I would write a review. Others' reviews on this website were very, very helpful for me.
