|Pattern Description: Misses Dress by Amazing Fit|
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, in fact I think it looks a little better than on the pattern envelope. The dress is a bit more form fitting, and doesn't look as "dumpy" as it does on the cover. (Where it looks like one big A-line.)
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, even being new to sewing dresses I was able to follow it quite well.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The empress waistline of the dress is very flattering, along with the princess seams. I'm not in love with the front darts, but I don't know how the dress would look without them, so I'm keeping them in.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made the V neckline and found it a bit too high up on the neck. I cut it down about an inch and re-sewed it and then I liked it better. This way it sits on my collar bones, not right at my neck.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, I might prefer to sew it in a print next time, as the solid fabric I chose really shows the construction, so there is no room for error! But I do recommend it, and think it is an approachable dress for new sewists.
