|**UPDATED: just finished a second set of the dress, shorts and ruffled halter in a size 4 for my youngest niece using Patty Young Textured Basics fabric! OMG, too cute! |
Pattern Description: Easy-to-sew children's summer apparel ensemble including a dress, shorts, halter top, pants and a hat. I made the dress (View A), the halter with ruffles (view C), the shorts (View F) and hat (view G)
Pattern Sizing: Sizes 3 thru 8. I sewed up a size 7 everything and a medium sized hat for my 6 year old niece.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Absolutely! I am really impressed with the outcome of all with the exception of the hat.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Easy to follow, but it took me a few read before I understood how the binding was going to work out. After finishing the dress, I didn't even need to look at the instructions until I got to the hat...
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the look of the dress, the adjustable arm straps, the elastic on the pockets and the way everything fit together really nicely. The shorts are simple, straight forward.
The hat on the other hand. Nothing lined up. It's completely wonky. I used strips of stitching to help stiffen the brim a bit more. That's the best I could come up with.
Fabric Used: I used "Oh Deer" quilting cotton by MoMo for Moda
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: No alterations made except with the hat, I had to improvise.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I will be sewing these pieces up all summer long!
Conclusion: A nice easy pattern that lines up perfectly (A thru F), comes together quite quickly and can be used to build a girls summer wardrobe up with many options to mix-and-match!
