|Pattern Description: |
The Alma Blouse is a feminine, semi-fitted blouse with neckline and sleeve variations. Darts create a fitted silhouette without being too tight, with an optional tie belt to cinch the waistline. The Alma Blouse closes at the side with an invisible zipper.
Sizing is proportioned for a pear-shaped figure: smaller bust and waist, larger hips.
Skill Level: Intermediate
Sizes: 0-16 (all sizes are included in one pattern!)
I made a view B in size 0.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yep, I think it reflects the drawing well.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
This was my first Sewaholic pattern (and certainly won't be my last!) and I was really impressed. The instructions were clear and concise - all steps for all views are fitted neatly onto the same page. The pictures were very helpful, too.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the design of all three views in fact. With view B, I particularly like the way it fits and the Peter Pan collar. I also liked the construction of the Peter Pan Collar, as there was the under and over collar pieces.
I used a floral stretch cotton, with contrasting navy polycotton for collars (it was actually sold as sheeting).
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
None at all! This was very refreshing as I would normally need to do a SBA on most patterns. However, as Sewaholic patterns are proportioned for pear shaped women, although I am not shaped that way, it did mean that no SBA was needed.
I also didn't do a petite adjustment, which I would usually do. I am happy with the length of the finished blouse. As I am 5'3, you may want to consider lengthening it if you are much taller.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I will definitely sew it again - I think next time I will attempt View A with a broderie anglaise. I would highly recommend this to others - especially those who are pear shaped and those who would usually need a SBA.
A great pattern, a new favourite of mine. The top came together like a dream, as the pattern was so well drafted (at least for my size, but based on what I've read so far, I don't think this is an exception). Go out, buy it and make your own version!
