See accompanying photo from the pattern envelope. I made the long-sleeve version in a rayon jersey pucci-like print.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Fabric Used:Rayon Jersey, with Stacy Easy-knit for interfacing and seam stabilization.
Fabric choice is very important! The pattern envelope recommends 25% stretch, and my fabric was at least 75%; I am not sure that was a good choice. Get something that has some body to it. My fabric was really drapey and it took quite a lot of futzing around to get the ruching just right. It was also a bear to hem. (It looks great though!)
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
- I made my standard KS size, small fading to medium with petite adjustment above the waist.
- It needs a bit more ruching on the side for the bold print I used.
- It needs more notches to match the ruched front seam with the non-ruched back seam evenly. I just ended up distributing them where they were most flattering.
- As other posters recommended, definitely make the ruched seam allowances 5/8"; that really helps with the handling. I didn't have problems with bulk once I trimmed the allowances, but my fabric is very drapey.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Definitely! I get compliments every time I wear it. I already purchased fabric to make the sleeveless version for summer.
