Pattern Description: Unlined sheath dress with side and vertical darts; sleeveless or two sleeve variations, two neckline variations.
Pattern Sizing: 6-16,
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? I didn't use them.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The simplicity; I was wanted to develop a TNT sheath pattern and this is it.
Fabric Used: Not sure--3 yards of what could probably be called a polyester shantung though it has a woven stripe. It was a remnant decorator fabric at Hancock Fabrics some years ago.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
The usual shoulder and sway back plus an FBA in which I split the side dart into two smaller darts.
I also needed to add 3/4" to the lower half of the sleeve as it was too tight as drafted. Given that I had not set sleeves into the muslin, it was fortunate that I had enough fabric to cut new sleeves. I added neckline darts for rounded shoulders. It is unlined with serged seam finishes, an invisible zipper and hook with thread chain at the top of the zipper.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Definitely to both questions.
Conclusion: While it may take some minor tweaking yet to come, this is now a TNT for me and I will use it with a variety of sleeve and neckline--even collar-- finishes. Aside from the fitting issues, this is a very simple pattern to construct, the sleeve set in beautifully and can easily be lined. A beginner could have good success with this pattern.
