|Pattern Description: |
A cute and loose lightweight top.
Drafted from tutorial instructions, so fits perfectly provided you measure perfectly!
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
It's very simple to make and it fits perfectly due to the personalized measurements. That being said, I didn't like how the straps attached, and next time I make it I'll cut the chest band in two pieces and hide the straps in between.
The final shirt is somewhat maternity-looking from the side, but I think the fabric will relax over time and stop poofing out with quite so much stiffness.
Fabricland quilting cotton.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made a muslin and tested all kinds of variations, such as making a bust dart to pull in the poofs, and cutting the back smooth instead of pleated... and in the end I followed the pattern exactly. Oh, except I cut it 18" instead of 20". I'm short
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes and yes! I really like how it came out, and the pockets are a nice touch.
This shirt was fun to make and is fun to wear. I now know exactly what size I need to cut everything (apparently my "trapezoid" is more of a rectangle!), so I definitely could see making another one. I will wait to see how much the poofiness goes down though, I don't need maternity clothes just yet!
