|Pattern Description: Misses Top: Very loose-fitting, pullover top has neckline variations, elasticized (seamed) waist and stitched hems. I made view B. |
Pattern Sizing: 6 - 14 Also comes in 16 - 22 I made size 6 based on the ease measurements printed on the tissue and the fact that I used a knit.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, except for the sleeve bands.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, very easy.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the neckline and the easy fit, and I love the pleats at the neck/front. I did not like the bias binding instruction so I did not use that.
Fabric Used: These fabrics were in my stash, originally purchased last year from EOS. They are the 11 oz. metallic rayon jerseys in sage/silver and coral/silver. I use this fabric a lot for making t's as it is easy sew, easy care and very comfortable.
I used knit interfacing from Fashion Sewing Supply.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: View B had 3/4 sleeves and I wanted a short sleeve instead so I omitted the lower sleeve piece, but it still needed something so I did a sleeve band in the contrasting color.
The neckline instructions want you to use a bias binding, sandwiching the collar between it and the bodice neckline, and then turning it to the inside and stitching which you don't see because it's under the collar. I made a binding from the sage fabric and used that instead of a purchased woven binding.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I would sew this again.
I would recommend this pattern to others. Make sure to look at the ease measurements on the tissue before picking your size.
Conclusion: This is a bit of a sleeper pattern...it did not look too exciting but I actually really like the finished top. It's very comfy and easy to wear. The unfortunate thing is that mine kinda looks like the great pumpkin...I did not realize that until I had sewn on the lower portion, sat back and looked at it on the dressform and said "Oh my, it looks like a pumpkin!" Oh well, I still like it, and it goes with some new jewelry I just got so that made me feel a little better. LOL
