|Pattern Description: |
Trouser-styled mini skirt with front creases, front fly zip and extra-wide hem-cuff.
Burda sizes 34-42. I cut out my usual size 42.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Basically yes, but I did lengthen it quite a bit and omitted the pockets and hem-cuff.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I do look at Burda instructions as a guide to their construction sequence. It was a fairly straightforward skirt.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Initially I wasn't attracted to this pattern at all but as reviews of it started to appear with a lengthened version it did appeal to me. I really like the front faux pocket flaps. The pleats also give it a nice sleek tailored look.
Wool purchased from The Fabric Store earlier this year. Even though it is a very soft wool, I always line anything woollen, and I used a soft lining from stash, probably sunsilky.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
1. I lengthened it by 10-1/2 inches (27 cm).
2. I omitted the hem-cuff.
3. I omitted the pockets. I had initially included them but when I tried the skirt on they added too much bulk.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I will not sew it again, it is a unique design, but I would recommend it if you like the style.
I really like the style, it is by Karl Lagerfeld after all. It is a rather classic style that I am sure will not date, as with most Burda garments. The elastic in the back band makes it a very comfortable skirt to wear.
