Set of knit tops. I made view C. Pattern Sizing:
I made the size 10 which worked really well. Let out the shoulder seam a bit. Cut 3" off the hem. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yep Were the instructions easy to follow?
I did not think so! It took me a while to figure out the neckline. But I totally get it now. Thank goodness for basting! What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the twist. Kinda fancy. I thought the front curved piece was a little funny looking at first because it is kinda puffy. I played around with it for a while. I love the facing because it makes a nice finish. As other reviewers mentioned, the front is a bit low. Also agree with other reviewers that the back neck stretches out too much when adding the facing. I added two neckline darts to take in the gaping area. Fabric Used:
100% polyester knit from JoAnn's Fabrics. This knit is from the "Sew Classics" line and I highly recommend it. Non static, sews, washes, irons beautifully. I also used it in green for Vogue 8831. I used a jersey needle. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
The facing is to be sewn to the neckline and shoulders for a nice finish. I also sewed it all around the armhole edges too. When I turned the facing to inside I had a beautiful finish all around! The pattern instructions indicate that these edges should be left raw and then bound and turned! I don't understand that at all! Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Now that I have figured it out I would like to make it in a cotton knit or try another view. Conclusion:
A bit challenging. Makes up beautifully!
Update. I have never worn this top. Every time I put it on, I hated it. I think it is too bust revealing. I also thought that the twist looked "homemade".
