|Pattern Description: |
This is a pattern for sewing loose-fitting pullover tops. The pattern contains many variations, from sleeveless pullover to dropped shoulders with different sleeve lengths. Some of the views have a button/loop at the back neck. The tops can have side or back vents. For the skirt, I used a computer- generated pencil skirt pattern I have from a CAD program Pattermaker I just changed the back skirt vent and made two, side vents, instead.
The pattern comes with three sizes in one package. The sizes range from 8 to 24
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I really did not follow the directions, as this is a very easy top to make. I did read over the directions and they seemed easy to follow.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like that it has a casual feel but enough structure not to look sloppy or too baggy.
The white puffed fabric I bought on a trip to Vancouver, Canada. I did not write down the content. It is a transparent knit with elastic threads. The fabric washes beautifully and never needs to be pressed. I had just taken it out of the dryer when these photos were taken. I had never sewed with puffed fabric and just followed the directions from Fabric Savvy This was the easiest fabric to sew, I was pleasantly surprised. I used silk organza for interfacing and stay tape. I used a knit for the lining.
The purple flowered outfit is 100% cotton. It needs to be pressed! The top is lined with the same fabric. The skirt is lined with Hang Free black lining fabric. I used black knit interfacing.
b>Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Actually I used size 16 and did not alter the pattern. I did line the top instead of using the facings in the pattern. For the white outfit, I used stay tape on the shoulder seam, waist seam of skirt and the side seam of both the top and the skirt. I used a new approach to lining the top. I followed the instructions in Blithe Stitches This was much easier than trying to pull the top through the un-sewn shoulder seam. In the previous method, I had trouble with the shoulder seam becoming distorted before it was sewn.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, very easy and the pattern can be used with woven fabric or knits.
Easy, comfortable summer top. View the Album
