|Pattern Description: Misses dress or tunic and pants. I made the dress B.|
Pattern Sizing: 4-20. I used 12.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Pretty much the same.
Were the instructions easy to follow? I think I only looked at it once and disregarded it. It's a very simple dress to make.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like the quick and simple part! I have these very pretty cotton voile in my stash that I wanted to use and I thought this would be good for it. However I think a more fluid drapey fabric will be better for this pattern. There is a bit of puffiness under the elastic empire waist that makes me look a bit pregnant. I have to wear a thick belt to keep that under control. I usually wear this with a cardigan so that helps too. Also, I do have to wear a strapless bra with this dress.
Fabric Used: A printed cotton voile in my stash.
I think a more fluid drapey fabric will show the dress better.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I used size 12 which is 1 size smaller than my usual because I didn't want the dress to be too puffy. I disregarded the front and back facings. Instead, I made self fabric linings for the front bust and back areas in case I needed to wear the dress sans bra. I also didn't do the elastic/front tie. Instead I just inserted a full elastic into the seam allowance/channel.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I have already made another one in another printed cotton voile. These 2 dresses are getting used often this summer. I would recommend this to someone who needs a sundress in a hurry or a beginner sewist.
Conclusion: A really quick and easy to make summer dress.
