Pattern Description: This is what Burda had to say about this dress: "The simple, straight dress has practical inseam pockets and refined tucks in the shoulder seams. The deep V-neckline adds an alluring touch."
Pattern Sizing: 34-44
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes. I even used the same color fabric.
Were the instructions easy to follow? I did not use them. The dress is very simple to assemble.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the neckline pleats and the straight, simple style.
Fabric Used: Navy ponte knit. The pattern is for wovens, but I thought a knit would work better.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I made a petite adjustment above the bust and added 1.25 inches of length at the waist. After making a muslin, I raised the armholes 5/8", took in the side seams 1/4" from armhole to waist and added an extra 2" of length to the skirt for insurance. Once the dress was basted I took in another 3/8" from armhole to hip to compensate for using a knit instead of a woven.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I might sew this again if a suitable fabric presented itself. I highly recommend it.
Conclusion: This a sleek, dress that is simple to make and to wear. The styling options are many- loose with flat sandals, belted with heels, etc. I think I will get a lot of wear out of this one. For more info and photos, please visit my blog.
