|Pattern Description: |
Loose-fitting, pullover dress has close-fitting bodice with draped front neckline and stay, side front seams, elasticized, raised waist, attached belt (front), and stitched hems.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yup, except for my changes.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the cowl, which stays modest by use of a stay, as well as the gathering on the skirt CF.
Not a fan of the facings, nor the fact that there's a CB seam.
Rayon jersey (teal) and mystery tissue weight jersey (dark blue). Unfotunately, my choice of fabric seems to show every lump and bump. Plus, I think the dress shrunk after I washed it (even after pre-washing my fabrics).
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
My fabrics were a bit light/sheer, so I self lined the side fronts as well as the back. I added a 1" waistband, and omitted the waist tie, but didn't alter the bodice or skirt to compensate for it, and I like how it turned out!
I also made it a double layered skirt, using the shorter skirt pattern piece for the longer pattern, and then cutting the overskirt 3" shorter.
Lastly, I made a FBA by adding 1/2" to the lower seam of the CF bodice piece and inner edges of the side bodice pieces, which was trued out to the side seams. I also added just a bit more to the curves of the princess seams and adjusted the CF cowl and stay to match.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I have! This is my second iteration of this bad boy. So yes, you can imagine I WOULD recommend this delightful pattern to others. Not pattern related, but I wish this one wouldn't have shrunk so much. :/ I prewashed my fabric like a good seamstress!
This is a great dress on its own, but I love it with a waistband, sans waist ties, even more!
