I guess I just can't get enough of this tank pattern. This is my 5th project from it. I've reviewed it here and here with peplum. I used the same peplum style this time to make a July 4th outfit for her. Paired with white capri leggings, my little peanut is ready to celebrate independance day!
Fabric: Both the cotton jerseys are from Girl Charlee. Love that store!!!!
I wanted something more than just a peplum tank. I also wanted to bring the blue polka dot fabric a little up. I debated between a ruffle sleeve like this top or a sleeve band like this dress. In the end I decided to go with the sleeve band. Not only does it look sharp, it was super easy to do. This is how I did it.
I cut two pieces about 8.5" X 8". Folded them wrong sides together and serged the shorter side. Turned them right side out. I had two sleeve bands! After finishing the top with bindings I simply inserted the band in the armholes matching the shoulder seam to the center of the band and topstitched. The top left photo shows the detail.
I LOVE IT! The sleeve bands are one of the easiest details to add and they look super cute and add just a little oomph to a basic top.
