|Pattern Description: |
Dress, bloomers and romper. I made the one piece romper. It is gathered the yoke, has shoulder straps and has a back button closure. It snaps at the crotch.
The pattern goes from newborn to 18 months. XS to XL.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, it did.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I struggled a bit with the pattern instructions. For example, they don't tell you when to finish several seams--like the back seam under the placket. I wanted to finish/serge the seam edges before sewing the back seam, but learned it has to be done after the back placket is completely finished and the seams are clipped. That's when I also serge finished the bottom of the placket itself--which the instructions don't cover at all. I also had a problem in doing the crotch. To get it to look like the instruction picture, I had to turn the added extension inside out and then fold it up one more time which the instructions don't say to do, but which looks correct and added more body for the snap closure.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the finished look, but it is difficult to sew the gathered romper bottom to the very tiny top (I made the XS) when the top is already sewn front to back. Switching to the 1/4 inch foot for my machine helped.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I just used two coordinating fabrics and an initial button.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I am working on another version for my granddaughter right now!
I wouldn't call it a quick and easy pattern, but I love the fit and finished look.
