An elegant dress with a low scooped back, princess seamed, fully lined bodice, box pleated tulip skirt and exposed zipper at centre back. There are three sleeve variations and the bodice is designed with very little ease to enhance the waist. Pattern Sizing:
UK6-20 Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes. Though I frankenpatterned the skirt portion Were the instructions easy to follow?
Exceptionally! These came in a little booklet, very clearly laid out and with clear illustrations. It was like having some other sewists around giving you tips! What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I really liked the bodice. This is my first make with princess seams and as a lady with a larger bust this was a dream to work with. Fabric Used:
A Japanese cotton. It's quite stiff. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I lengthened the bodice by an inch to end on my waistline. I also shaved 9mm off the outside of both shoulders (I went sleeveless). I also substituted the skirt with a Simplicity 2154 pencil skirt pattern. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Definitely! I can wake to make another version for work with a pleated skirt! Conclusion:
I can't say enough fabulous things about this pattern! There are more details and photos on the blog: http://bimbleandpimble.blogspot.com.au/2013/07/amanda-vs-elisalex-dress.html
