|Pattern Description: |
Misses'/Miss Petite Unlined Jacket, Top, Bra, Pants In 2 Lengths, Skirt and Bag. I made Top B which is described as "pullover, below hip, has long sleeves and stitched hems."
XS-XL. I made the XS (4-6) since it was the only size that would fit on the fabric I had. Since that worked, it's fair to say the pattern runs big.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Allowing for the changes I made, yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
It's been so long since I started this, I don't remember.
I made this out of a man's short-sleeved silk sweater bought at a thrift store.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I cut open the original sweater at the sides, folded it in half, and laid the pattern out on it like so. I kept the sweater's original neckline finish and shoulder seam. The original shoulder angle looks like it was squarer than the pattern, and the shoulder seam was positioned differently (angled toward the back). I did an effective "forward neck" adjustment, too, by placing the pattern's neck hole further back than the sweater's.
For the sleeves, to keep the original band on the bottom, I used the pattern pieces to cut them down from the top.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I am quite satisfied with this t-shirt. If I make it again, I'll add a little length and taper the sleeves more. I would definitely recommend the pattern.
This might be my favorite thing that I've made so far.
