|Pattern Description: |
This pattern was from the BurdaStyle handbook which is a brilliant book. There is one pattern for this jacket but it shows you a variety of ways to create it. The pattern I have used for this jacket is the standard no changes design.
I cut a pattern sizing of 40 and it turned out to be pretty good with 5/8 seams.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, it did look very much like the pattern and there were a variety of different examples and I really liked the versions that were in the book. It was good because it showed you a few ways you could be creative with the pattern without changing the design too much as well.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I found that I didn't really read the instructions very much and just went ahead. It was pretty simple to construct and turned out nicely with me going ahead.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I loved this pattern exactly as it was. The only thing I did note was the sleeves were really short so I had to add an extra cuff to the sleeve to ensure that it reached my wrists. This seemed to work out really nice though and looked like it was part of the original design. The next version I might also make the collar a bit longer as its quite small at the moment.
Linen blend fabric.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
No pattern alterations.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes definitely! I would highly recommend this pattern its a perfect jacket to start off with and turned out really lovely. I am cutting out my second jacket now and I also recommend the book its fantastic! One of my favourite sewing's books.
