Pattern Description: Princess seamed coat with variations
Pattern Sizing: I made a sz 42 with adjustments
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Sort of, I made quite a few design changes
Were the instructions easy to follow? I mostly followed Sherry's RTW sewalong and Jackets for real people but they aren't too bad, a lot better than the normal magazine instructions!
Fabric Used: Stretch cotton drill for the outer and a poly satin for the lining.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I added about 1" back width and 1/2" bicep width and took a 1/2" tuck out of the centre front pattern piece. Also added some length to the skirt section.
For the skirt section, I rotated out the darts and added to width to make a A-line/flared skirt and then pleated that. I put pockets into one of the front pleats, copying the directions from Colette Patterns Macaron dress.
Added a hood, it was traced from a RTW jacket that fit my daughter.
Made a bow belt mostly following Tilly's bow belt tutorial.
Flat piping around the facings.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yep, this is the third time I've made this pattern. (First and Second
Great pattern, I really like how easy it is to modify and all the versions really help to give ideas on how to change it up.
I made this for my daughter, I was originally going to gather the skirt sections but she liked the look of the pleats in the muslin so we went with it!
I have heaps more photos on my Blog
