|Nobody told me sewing for little girls is addictive! I am sewing EVERY night these days. Someone stop me... or not |
Pattern Description: A basic shorts pattern with tons of design variations. This is a digital pattern by Dana of danamadeit.com. I made the vintage inspired racer shorts.
My 2 year old is a very active girl. She doesn't walk... she runs! So dresses, while they do look adorable on her aren't always practical. When I do make them for her, I keep the length short so it doesn't interfere with her playtime Speaking of which, we needed some shorts. A sensible mom would drive down to Gymboree and buy them. But a nerd like me would find a pattern, download it and sew it all up in one single evening Except we had to take a trip to Joann fabrics for some bias binding.
Pattern Sizing: Pattern is sized from 12months to 10 years. That should keep me busy for a while, especially with all the design options Dana gives.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, it did.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Instructions for making the basic shorts are included in the pattern and the rest are on the blog. They are super easy to follow so I had no problems.
I am so used to sewing shorts/pants the adult way, i.e. sew both the side seams, then put one leg into the other and sew down the crotch curve so it took me a few minutes to understand the KID way For some reason the crotch seam didnt match up but I blame that on my taping
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Yes, its a basic elastic waist short pattern but the variations are what makes it in my opinion. The racer shorts are super cute and I plan to make many more. My next version will have pockets and piping too.
Fabric Used: Michael Miller Quilting Cotton.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I made them as is. Although, I think they are too short. What do you think?
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, and YES!
Conclusion: I highly recommend this pattern. Summer is going away fast and we need more outdoor time with cute shorts like this
