Pattern Description: The Bombshell is modeled on a classic 1950's silhouette. The pattern includes 3 variations in 8 sizes: a gathered bust maillot, a halter neck, and a high waist bottom
Pattern Sizing: Sizes 4 - 18
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes!!
Were the instructions easy to follow? This pattern is a pdf download. Print and tape together, it also had the option to print a large print out at a copyshop. The print out instructions are good, but the sewalong on her blog is awesome. Bombshell sew along
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The flattering, modest yet sexy cut.
Fabric Used: a swimsuit lycra from Spandex World. I bought two yards of outer fabric and one of the lining. I had about a half a yard of each left over.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I lengthened the body by 1". Next time I will lengthen it 2" more. I am 5'9" with a pretty long torso. I also inserted soft foam cups in the halter, inbetween the lining and outer fabric. I tacked them to the lining only at the seam allowances. Didn't add much support, but did provide some needed nipple privacy. (-:
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, already have the fabric ready.
Conclusion: I love this suit. I think it would be flattering on so many body types. It is amazing. I pull it on and am just amazed at how nicely it camouflages so much. If you are thinking of making a swimsuit you have to give this one a try.
I was unable to upload an image of the suit. Just kept getting error message it had to be a jpg and it was.... so for pics, please see my blog.
