Thanks for sharing; I've had experience with pleats and slimy fabric too and it can be beyond frustrating. With some projects you just feel like you can't get a break! I've always found that you just have to set these aside and move on. You might find you pick it up at another time and suddenly it just falls into place. That has also happened to me. So I would say definitely, move on for now but don't throw it out; it's cute fabric.
