|Pattern Description: |
Straight, close-fitting, lined dress has mock-wrapped bodice, collar, empire waistline, with or without three-quarter sleeves, mid-knee length with back zipper and slit.
I made a 12
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, it did!
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I didn't really follow the instructions, but instead chose my own construction method.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the collar, and I really like the fit of this pattern on me. I did not like the construction order recommended in the instructions.
Black silk dupioni outer, black silk batiste lining
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I sewed the side seams with a 1/2" seam allowance instead of 5/8" for a bit more room (I made a muslin to fit the dress first). I have a shorter torso and I normally fit vogue patterns size 12 without alteration, and I did not have any issues with the fit.
I did change the construction order, as mentioned above. I sewed the collar in between the lining and outer to hide the seams instead of slipslitching by hand as recommended. I then sewed the outer and lining together at the armholes and flipped the bodice right side out before sewing side seams and attaching the skirt. I also left out the back pleat (I found it unnecessary).
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I don't think I need another dress like this, but I would recommend this pattern to others.
