This is a dog bed cover. I used an old pillow to make the bed.
The top of the bed is made of velvet from Ikea. The cheap fabric is not in the remnant bin. It's in scratch and dent. These had tiny stains- perfect for a dog bed that will be chewed, licked or clawed. They were a dollar each. The base of the bed is black home dec fabric I got it to make curtains for a room that has since been repainted a color that doesn't work with black.
I took a pillow and pushed a bunch of stuffing to the edges and then quilted a flat part in the center.
The top piece is 24"x30". The bottom two pieces are 24" by 16". Turn under one 16" side of both bottom pieces. Sew top and bottom together with 5/8" seam allowance, letting the finished edges of the bottom pieces overlap in the center. Turn right side out and press. Stitch 2" from edge. Stuff in pillow.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I did. I made one bed for the Doxie and another for the Chiweenie. If you have a small dog it's a good way to recycle a pillow.
